A Lighthouse In Winter Ice And Snow In The Baltic Sea
If you are a collector of lighthouse memorabilia and an iPhone or iPad user then this will appeal. The design features the Harmaja Lighthouse and island which lies outside Helsinki, Finland, just south of the Suomenlinna sea fortress, and along the shipping lanes across the Baltic Sea.
Snows of winter and a frozen sea here hide the fact that Harmaja is a small island. At the center stands the lighthouse with its distinctive green dome and weather vane above the red and white banded lighthouse tower. Lower lying brick buildings surround the tower built on granite that is covered in snow. The Finnish coastline and Helsinki are just visible on the horizon, separated from Harmaja at this time of year by miles of frozen ice, broken up in the path of sea-going vessels.

Happy St Patricks Day - Wish You Were On A Tropical Island In The Caribbean ?
This iPhone design features the national flag of Montserrat, an island in the Caribbean that is the only country outside the Republic of Ireland to celebrate St Patrick's Day as a full public holiday. The island owes its Irish heritage to those deported in the 17th Century to the island of Montserrat to work alongside African slaves as forced labor.
The flag is unusual as it comprises the British flag, the Union Jack, representing the island as an British Overseas Territory, together with the coat of arms of Montserrat showing Erin, the female personification of Ireland dressed in green, against a cross and holding the golden harp of Ireland.
Today the island will be celebrating St Patrick's Day the Caribbean way, in a tropical paradise. I'd love to be there today. Perhaps next year. In the meantime here's a souvenir of that Emerald Isle in the Caribbean...

But escalating mortality on the high seas, in the nets and long-lines of fishing fleets, and from pollution and disease, means fewer and fewer turtles are living long enough to reproduce. Effective conservation means protecting turtles and their environment at all stages of their life cycle.

This design may look like modern art but it is more than that; it is the national flag of the Sami people whose indigenous nation and traditional territory of Sapmi spans northern Norway, Sweden, and Finland in Scandinavia, and the Kola peninsula in northern Russia.
